Rest Your Muscles!

Step 1. Questions

From smiling to running a race, muscles are involved in everything you do. No matter what kind of athlete you are, it is very important to take care of your muscles. Eating healthful foods and learning to exercise properly will help keep your muscles in top shape. What types of foods are good for muscle tissues? Is there a right way to exercise?

These questions will guide your investigation:
  • What is your muscular system? Research the role of the muscular system and what it is made up of.

  • How does your muscular system work? Research which nutrients are necessary for your muscular system to work properly.

  • What are the proper steps to take during physical exercise? What are some common injuries that can occur if the proper steps are not followed?

  • What other questions do you have about the muscular system?
First, visit the Web sites listed in Step 2 to research the answers to these questions. Take notes in the note-taking boxes. You may also visit other approved Web sites, or research the muscular system in encyclopedias and other resources at the library.

Then, follow Steps 3 and 4 to write your report.
