Compare Toothbrushes

Step 1. Questions

Stop and think about life without teeth. It would be difficult to eat most foods and even speaking would be affected(try saying “teeth” without your teeth.) What if a person goes to the dentist regularly, eats healthful foods, and brushes at least twice a day, but their toothbrush is in terrible shape? Toothbrushes come in many different styles, with different features. For example, toothbrushes with fat handles are supposed to be easier to hold, helping people to brush longer. How do you decide which toothbrush is best for your teeth?

For this e-journal project, you will research and compare different toothbrushes. Here are some questions to ask:

  • What is the proper way to brush your teeth?
  • What different types of toothbrushes are available? How does a person decide which bristle style is best for their teeth? Are additional features, such as gum cleaners, worth the extra money? Compare electric versus manual toothbrushes.
  • How important is the proper toothbrush as part of totaloral hygiene?
  • What questions do you have about toothbrushes?
First, visit the Web sites listed in Step 2 to research the answers to these questions. Take notes in the note-taking boxes. You may also visit other approved Web sites, or research toothbrushes in the encyclopedia and other resources at the library.

Then, follow Steps 3 and 4 to write your report.

Step 2. Research
