Emotions and Health

Step 1. Questions

Your mental health has an effect on your physical health. Have you ever felt like jumping for joy? Have you ever felt “butterflies” in your stomach when you were anxious? Do you ever feel like lying around when you’re bummed out? These are some examples of physical reactions to strong emotions.

In this e-Journal, you will look at the relationship between mind and body. You will research how the body physically reacts to strong emotions. The following questions will guide you along the way.
  • What are emotions? Give some examples.
  • How do people respond to different emotions? Are these responses healthful?
  • Can healing the mind help heal the body? Research some treatments involving both the mind and body.
  • What other information would you like to find out about the body’s response to emotions?
First, visit the Web sites listed in Step 2. Then research the answers to these questions. Take notes in the note-taking boxes. You may also visit other approved Web sites, or research the relationship between emotions and physical response in encyclopedias and other references at the library.

Then, follow Steps 3 and 4 to write your report.

Step 2. Research

Research answers for the questions you were asked in Step 1. Visit these Web sites. Take notes about them on this page, too!
