Why should I learn how to read a time line?
Sometimes reading about the past can be confusing. It can be hard to figure out what happened first and what happened next! A time line can tell you the order in which events happened. It can help you understand history.
Let's read a time line!
Suppose that a group of people call their community "Ourtown." Look at the time line below to find out more about Ourtown.
When you read about events, you come across words like "before," "after," and "finally."
You also come across phrases like "a few years ago" and "long ago." These phrases and words
tell you something about when things happened.
Instead of using words and phrases that refer to time, a time line shows you the time frame in which events happened.
