Create and interpret line graphs to find out which cars are friendliest to the environment.

  1. The term “miles per gallon (MPG)” refers to the number of miles that a vehicle can travel on one gallon of gas. Make a line graph for one car from the Best list, showing the average MPG that the car gets in the city. Label the vertical axis "Miles That Can Be Traveled" and mark the axis in units of ten starting at 0. Label the horizontal axis "Gallons of Gas" and mark that axis in units of one from 0 to 6. Title the graph "Gas Mileage for                                                     ." (Fill in the name of the car you chose.)

  2. Make a line graph for one car from the Worst list showing the average MPG that the car gets in the city. Label the vertical axis "Miles That Can Be Traveled" and mark the axis in units of ten from 0 to 100. Label the horizontal axis "Gallons of Gas" and mark that axis in units of one from 0 to 6. Math at Home

Today I explored a Web site that evaluates different types of cars to compare how environmentally friendly they are. I worked with statistics showing the average number of miles that each car can travel on one gallon of gas. I created line graphs using this data, and interpreted the information in the graphs.
