http://www.botham.co.uk/bread/baker1.htm
- Learn about baking bread.
- Then click the Web sites below and solve the problems.
- Write your answers in simplest form.

Use the Boston Brown Bread recipe at http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~mjw/recipes/bread/boston-brown-bread.html to solve problems 1-4.
- Sarah decides to double the Boston Brown Bread recipe. How much salt will she use? How much salt would she use if she tripled the recipe?
- Tim is about to bake the Boston Brown Bread and he realizes he only has a 1/8-cup measuring cup. How many of these 1/8 cups does he need to use for the correct amount of raisins? How many 1/8 cups does he need to use for the molasses?
- This recipe says to bake the bread in 3 one-quart molds. Imagine you only have 2 of the one-quart molds. What fraction can you multiply the amounts of the ingredients by in order to bake the bread using only your 2 molds?
- You decide to multiply the amounts of the ingredients in the recipe by the fraction required for 2 molds. How many cups of whole wheat flour will you use? How much molasses?
Use the Fermented Banana Bread recipe at http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~mjw/recipes/bread/fermented-banana-bread.html for problem 5.
- You want to cut this recipe in half. Calculate the new amounts needed for each of the following ingredients by multiplying the old amounts by 1/2.

Today I learned about baking bread at a Web site! Then I used some bread recipes to solve problems related to multiplying and dividing fractions. I figured out that if I wanted to cut the Fermented Banana Bread recipe in half, I would need to use cup of flour and cup of sugar.
