- Scroll down and click The Rugs. Study rugs 1 through 6.
- Click an image for a close view. Then click the Back arrow to return to the small images.
- Answer questions 1 through 6 on your project sheet.
- Click the right arrow after More Rugs to see rugs 7 through 12.
- Complete your project sheet.

- Look closely at rug 2, Ganado. Name and draw two different kinds of quadrilaterals that you see in the design.
- Look closely at rug 3, Klagetoh. The central figure in the design has the general shape of what geometric figure? Draw the shape and use a protractor to find the approximate measure of each angle.
- What geometric shape appears in each corner of the Klagetoh design? Describe these figures in as many ways as you can.
- Look closely at rug 4, Two Grey Hills. How many lines of symmetry does the rug have? Describe them.
- Look closely at rug 6, Chinle. How many lines of symmetry does the rug have? Describe them.
- Look closely at rug 5, Burntwater. Is either diagonal line from corner to corner a line of symmetry? Explain.
- Which rug in rugs 7 through 12 has a border showing figures that are their own reflections? Draw the shape.
- After viewing some other rugs, create your own rug design on a sheet of graph paper. Use colored pencils or markers to color the squares. You might want to divide some squares to make triangles and parallelograms. Your design should have at least one line of symmetry. Be prepared to identify all the geometric shapes in your design and to explain how you transformed any of the figures.
