Construction paper, markers, self-stick notes

Setup
Create a backyard garden on the bulletin board with construction paper or paint. Cut out 50 ladybug patterns.

Procedure
Each day, put between 1 and 50 ladybugs in the backyard garden. Ask children to estimate how many ladybugs are in the backyard. Have each child write his or her estimate on a self-stick note. Place the estimates around the bulletin board. Then ask children to find ways to count how many. Compare the exact number to the estimate.
