Pumpkin

Step 1. Questions

Have you ever wanted to grow your own pumpkin? For this e-Journal project you will research pumpkins in all their stages, including seeds, seedlings, full-size pumpkins, and jack-o-lanterns.

Here are some math problems to solve for your report:
  • How wide can a pumpkin grow? Find the width in both feet and inches.

  • How heavy can a pumpkin weigh? Find the weight in both pounds and ounces.

  • How long does a pumpkin take to grow from seed to full-size pumpkin? Find the time in both days and weeks.

You also should look for the data that will help you calculate the answers to the math problems listed above.

Step 2. Research

First, visit the Web sites in Step 2. Learn as much as you can about how pumpkins grow. Research answers for the questions you were asked in Step 1. Take notes about them on this page, too!
