Grade 5
Faraway
Step 1. Questions
Suppose you could spend a week any place in the world. Where would you go? What would you see and do? Would you be able to see and do all the things you want to in just one week?
For this project, you will research and plan an eight-day trip to a faraway place. Then you will write a story about the trip. As you visit different Web sites, here are some questions to research:
Choose a destination. What country will you visit? What towns or cities will you see in that country?
How many days do you plan to stay in each town or city?
How long will it take for you to travel from place to place?
What sites or attractions to you want to see? How many hours do you plan on spending at each attraction? Can you see and do all the things that you want in the time that you have?
To begin, visit the Internet sites listed in Step 2. You may also choose to visit a library, read your local newspaper, or interview an adult.
Step 2. Research
Research answers for the questions you were asked in Step 1. Visit these Web sites. Take notes about them on this page, too!
