The Benefits of Exercise (p. 109)

Step 1. Questions

It's no secret that exercise is very good for your body. It helps your heart, bones, lungs, skin, and even improves your mood. But did you know that different exercises target different parts of the body?

Write a report comparing aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise. To do so, you will research what they are, how they are different, and how each benefits the body. Here are some questions to guide your research:
  • What is the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercise?
  • What are the benefits of each kind of exercise?
  • Why should people do both kinds of exercise?
  • What are some good activities for kids?
Are you ready? Begin by visiting the Web sites listed in Step 2. Look for answers to the questions above, and write down what you learn in the note-taking boxes.

You may use search engines to research other Web sites. Or research aerobic and anaerobic exercises at the library. When you have finished, follow Steps 3 and 4 to write your report.

Step 2. Research

Research answers for the questions you were asked in Step 1. Visit these Web sites. Take notes about them on this page, too!
