Can you imagine gazing at stars for work? There are scientists who travel to foreign countries and spend their lives looking through telescopes to study stars. Much of what we learn about stars comes from them!
Write a report about what it's like to be an astronomer. To do so, you will need to do some research. Here are some questions to guide your research:
Why do people want to become astronomers?
What kind of work do astronomers do?
Where do astronomers work?
Why do astronomers sometimes have to travel to faraway places?
Why is the work of astronomers important? How do we benefit from their research?
Are you ready? Begin by visiting the Web sites in Step 2. Look for answers to the questions above, and write down what you learn in the boxes.
You may use search engines to research other Web sites. You can also research astronomy careers at the library. When you are ready, follow Steps 3 and 4 to write your report.
