Animals in Their Environments (p. 110)

Step 1. Questions

An anglerfish is the same color as water deep in the ocean. A tiny hummingbird can fly very quickly. Both have special traits that help them to survive in their environments.

Write a description of an anglerfish or a hummingbird. To do this, look up facts about their special traits. Here are some questions to help you:
  • What does the animal need to survive?
  • What body parts help the animal survive?
  • What traits help the animal get food?
Are you ready? Visit the Web sites listed in Step 2. Look for answers to the questions above. Write down what you learn in the boxes.

You may search other Web sites. Or learn about anglerfish and hummingbirds from books at a library. When you are ready, follow steps 3 and 4.

Step 2. Research

Find answers for the questions in Step 1. Visit these Web sites. Take notes about them on this page.
