Step 1. Questions

Solar power has many uses. Some people use it to run cars. Some people use it for outdoor lights. Many people use it to heat their homes.

Write a few paragraphs that explain how we use light and heat from the Sun. To do so, look up facts about solar energy. Here are some questions to help you:
  • What is solar power?
  • What are some uses of solar power?
  • How could you use solar power?
Are you ready? Visit the Web sites in Step 2. Look for answers to the questions above. Write down what you learn in the boxes.

You may search other Web sites. Or learn about solar energy from books at the library. When you are ready, go on to Steps 3 and 4.

Solar Energy Coloring Book
Here is a coloring book to teach you about the uses of solar energy. Print the pages. Then, color them. Next, study the pictures. Finally, describe in your notes how light and heat from the Sun can be used.
