A Visit to the Ocean (p. 140)

Step 1. Questions

What would you do if you took a trip to an ocean? Would you swim in the water? Would you walk along the sand? There are many things to do when you visit the ocean.

Write a story about a trip to the ocean. First, learn some facts about the ocean. Here are some questions to think about:
  • What is the land like at the ocean?
  • What kinds of things live in or near the ocean?
  • What kinds of activities can people do at the ocean?
Are you ready? Look for answers to the questions. Visit the Web sites in Step 2. Write down what you learn in the boxes.

With teacher supervision, you may search other Web sites. You can learn about the ocean at a library, too. When you are ready, follow Steps 3 and 4.

Step 2. Research
