Writing a Recipe (p. 346)

Step 1. Questions

Have you ever followed a recipe? A recipe is a set of directions given in a certain order. You can make a mixture by following a recipe.

Write a recipe for fruit salad. Be sure to use some of the fruits shown on page 346 of your textbook. Here are some questions to think about:
  • Which fruits will go into your salad?
  • How much of each fruit is needed?
  • What is a mixture?
  • Why is the fruit salad a mixture?
Are you ready? Look for answers to the questions. Visit the Web sites in Step 2. Write about what you learn in the boxes.

With teacher supervision, you may search other Web sites. You also can learn about recipes and mixtures from books at the library. When you are ready, go on to Steps 3 and 4.
