Return to Book List Grade 2   Changes All Around   Heat and Change     Heat makes things get warmer and change.   Heat is energy that can make things change.   Heat can change a solid ice cube into liquid water.   Heat can change liquid water into a gas.   Temperature tells how warm or cold something is.   Measure means to find the size or amount of something.   You can measure to find out how long, how heavy, or how many.   You can measure to find temperature.   Much of our heat comes from the Sun's energy.   Heat also comes from fuels, which give off heat when they burn.   Wood, coal, natural gas, and oil are some kinds of fuels.
