Earth’s outermost layer is made up of solid rock called the crust. Below this is the mantle. The rocks in the mantle flow slowly due to the high temperatures and great pressure. The liquid layer of Earth, called the outer core, lies beneath the mantle. This layer is most likely made of melted iron. Finally, the inner core can be found at Earth’s center. It is a sphere made of solid material.
