The largest organ inside your body is the liver. One of its functions it to produce a fluid called bile, which digests fats. The walls of the small intestine are lined with villi that are filled with capillaries. These tiny fingerlike projections absorb digested food. Then the nutrients enter the bloodstream and are carried to every part of your body. In the large intestine, bacteria break down the solid wastes. These exit the body through the anus.
