During their life cycle, some animals change their body form completely in a process called metamorphosis. Ladybugs go through this process in four distinct stages. First, the adult female ladybug lays a fertilized egg. Next, the egg hatches into a larva. The ladybug larva looks completely different from the parents. The larva eats and grows and bigger. Then, the larva stops eating and becomes a(n)pupa. This is when larva tissue breaks down and adult structures such as wings start to form. Finally, the changes are complete and the adultladybug emerges from its special case. It can reproduce and begin the life cycle again.
