Animals with Backbones

Step 1. Questions

How many animals can you name? Aardvark, ant, beetle, camel, chipmunk, dingo, dugong—you could spend the rest of the day listing them! Instead, choose two or three animals. You can find lots of information about them on the Internet.

Here are some questions to ask about the animals you choose. Read them, and then let the questions guide your Internet search.
  • Where does the animal live?
  • What is the animal's life cycle?
  • Is the animal endangered? If yes, why?
  • What other questions do you have about the animal?

Step 2. Research

Research answers for the questions you were asked in Step 1. Visit these Web sites. Take notes about them on this page, too!

Kratts’ Creatures
Click Creature World on the sign post. You will be on your way to learning about all sorts of animals. Or, check out the Creature of the Week, or the Creature Clubhouse. This excellent site is part of PBS Kids.
