1. Farming is a major industry in the Middle West. In fact, this region is sometimes called the “bread basket” of the United States, because Middle Western farmers grow many crops that are used to make the food we eat. Visit a Kansas farm and explore its crops at Kids’ Field Day.

Offline Activity: Our New Car
Choose one car. Pretend that you were living when it was first made. Write a diary entry about the day your family bought the car. Tell what year it was and what the car looked like. Add some other details, such as where the car was made or how much it cost. Tell why you chose that car. If you wish, draw a picture of the car.
