2. Name some of the attractions in downtown Cairo. Which would you visit? Explain why.

3. What allowed for development of the suburbs? If you lived in Cairo, would you like to live in the center city or in the suburbs? Why?

4. Besides tourism, what are some other industries of Cairo and Egypt?

5. Explain how goods get to Cairo from other parts of Egypt. How do they then get to port cities on the Mediterranean?

  • What products does the country export? Are any of the products agricultural? What percentage of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) does trade account for?

Offline Activity: African Product Poster
With your class, make a poster that shows products and industries that represent Africa's economy. On an index card, draw a picture of the major export of the country you studied at the Web site. Write a fact or two about the country's product on the card. Use a yarn pointer to connect your card to the country on the bulletin board map of Africa.
