Online Activity: Ancient Artifacts
Use the pictures and facts at the Web site to answer the following questions. Type your answer in each box.



   What is the shape of the cutout design found on some artifacts? Where else in Anasazi villages was that shape found?
   

   How were noisemakers made? What do you think noisemakers or rattles were for?
   

   Do you think that women or men primarily used most of the artifacts shown? Explain by naming the artifacts and how they were used.
   

   Explain how the ancient Puebloans made pottery.
   

   Describe the artifact that may have been used for games among the Anasazi.
   

   Of what material were sandals made? How were they made waterproof?
   

   Describe the colors and shapes of the predominant designs on the Anaszi artifacts.

Offline Activity: Create a Timeline
Create a time line of the Anasazi people who once occupied the Mesa Verde region. Begin your time line with the arrival of the Anasazi in A.D. 550 and end with their abandonment of the area in 1300. Mark years mentioned in the Web site and write a brief statement about what occurred at each of these times.
