Explorers searching for a Northwest Passage made many contributions to the settlement of North America. You’ve read about Giovanni da Verrazano and how his discovery was honored after many years. Now select another explorer mentioned in the Infographic on page 176 of your textbook. Write a proclamation (a formal announcement ) that describes the importance of this person. Discuss his influence on North America’s northeastern coast. You may wish to look at a map of northeastern North America for evidence of places that were named after this person. Illustrate the proclamation with a medal designed to honor the explorer and his accomplishments. | |||
