Online Activity: Famous Immigrants from Around the World
Match each immigrant to his or her native country.
Click two cards. Wait to see them turn over. Try again until you find all of the matches!

2. Moving to a new country can be hard. Immigrants who come to the United States have to find homes and jobs, and learn about daily life in our country. At this Web site, some American students share the immigration stories of their grandparents and other relatives. To read the personal stories of these immigrants, visit Immigration Museum Online.

The immigrants discussed in the Web site came to the United States from many different countries for many different reasons. When they arrived here, they built new lives by working, going to school, and taking care of their families. Often they tried to preserve the traditions of their home countries, while learning new ones.

Make a chart like the one below. Fill in the information about the immigrant families; the first column is done for you. Then choose one more immigrant family, and fill in the last column of your chart.
