Rock the Renaissance(p. 194-195)

Step 1. Questions

The Renaissance was a time for new ideas. Artists explored new methods of painting. Astronomers learned more about the night sky and the universe, and scientists developed new ways of thinking about the world. The Renaissance was a very exciting time in history. How did the Renaissance change the world?

Here are some questions to think about:
  • What was life like before the Renaissance? During?
  • Do you think inventions in navigation changed the course of history? Why?
  • How did the printing press change society?
  • Old Greek and Roman manuscripts were discovered during the Renaissance. Why
    was this an important discovery?
Are you ready? Begin by visiting the Web site listed in Step 2. Look for answers to the questions above and record your notes in the boxes.

Step 2. Research

Once you′ve read about the Renaissance, type your notes in the boxes. Draw some conclusions about the Renaissance and the ways in which it changed the course of history. When you draw a conclusion about something, you also use past experience, reasoning, and new information to make conclusions–or general statements–about people, events, or ideas.
