When César Chávez was a boy, his family had to sell its farm. The family moved to California. There they worked on other peoples' farms. The living conditions were not good.
When César Chávez grew up, he wanted to change the poor conditions for other farm workers.
César worked with Dolores Huerta. Together they formed a union of farm workers,
called the National
Farm Workers Association. In 1970 the union won better working and living
conditions for farm workers.
