Unit 3 - Chapter 7: Day in the Life
A Day in the Life
A Young Person's Life on the Frontier
Illustrations of a girl and

farm clothes. Pictures of a
one-room rural schoolhouse,
schoolchild's writing slate,
and cow pasture.
Life on the frontier was very difficult at times, so boys and girls would help their parents with many everyday tasks. Boys would help their fathers by working in the fields and bringing food home for everyone to eat, while girls would help their mothers around the house by doing chores, which included taking care of younger children. All the families in the area would come together at least one day a week for meetings or to celebrate their religious beliefs.
